Calabogie Ice Castle

When Ontario’s Highlands first posted about there being an Ice Castle in Calabogie, I didn’t believe it.  I thought “how could there be an ice castle in Calabogie and I don’t know about it?” Well, now I believe it!

The Ice Castle is located on Black Donald Lake at the White Pines Resort.  After visiting the ice castle twice today (once during the day and once at night) we got the opportunity to speak with the owners Shawn and Valerie.  I can’t even begin to describe how nice these people are, I thought the castle lit up at night was worth the visit but talking with them was my favourite part about it all.

Little did they know they would end up in newspapers, on tv, and claimed as one of the world’s top 10 ice castles!  And I can’t blame them, I would have never imagined there would be one of the world’s top 10 ice castles in Calabogie either, but I am glad there is!

If you like what you see in the winter you should check out White Pines Resort in the summer, there are beautiful wooden cabins along the lake that would make for a nice weekend (or week) away.  Since winter is almost over I’ve got warm water swimming on my mind and this would be a great destination for anyone travelling to the Ottawa Valley this summer.
