Our Honeymoon Part V – Banff and Jasper
Banff and Jasper are probably two of Canada’s most beautiful National Parks. But beautiful also means BUSY! Especially in the summer months.
Unfortunately there was a large forest fire which created a lot of haze in the air so our pictures may not be the greatest. We also had to cross a certain section of the hwy before 2pm because they were closing it due to the smoke from the fire. Luckily our friends Lawrence and Kerri are locals so they warned us about the closure.
Words and/or pictures cannot do these parks justice. You must see it yourself to feel its beauty but these pictures can give you a taste of what Banff and Jasper look like.
Whatever you do, do not get out of your vehicle when you see wildlife. It is dangerous for you, the animal and the other tourists. That being said we were the only people who stayed in our vehicle to snap a quick shot of this guy.
There are many rest areas and spots for photo opportunities throughout the drive. I am pretty sure we stopped at every single one. Can you blame us?
Canada really does have a lot of beautiful waterfalls.
I saved the best for last. These next few pictures are some of my favourite photos from our trip so far. If I had to pick between Banff and Jasper I think I would pick Jasper. The water that flows from the mountains along the side of the road is the most beautiful colour I have ever seen. If only we had shuttle we would have loved to kayak it. But just looking at it is special enough. I could sit at this spot and stare into the beauty of Jasper for hours, days, weeks…
Driving through Banff and Jasper was like driving through an Alberta postcard.
